“As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them. And when they had fasted and prayed, and laid their hands on them, they sent them away. So they, being sent forth by the Holy Ghost, departed…” Acts 13:2-4a
Last night was a special and memorable time as I was ordained to the Gospel ministry! Good News Baptist Church was gracious enough to hold a special service just for this special dedication.
God’s pattern for missions is that the local church, as the body of Christ on earth, sends out laborers into the harvest field of the world. What a joy to be a part of the greatest work, and to join with our church in following the Biblical model. Our pastor, Walt Coles, gave the church a solemn charge to support and pray for us. Bro. John O’Malley, the director of our mission board, exhorted us to be faithful and focused in our missionary service, and Pastor Danny Mundy, Nikki’s former pastor, delivered a heartfelt message to a young preacher and his wife. Our hearts were encouraged and energized by the truth of God’s Word given by these faithful ministers.
After the preaching and wonderful special music, the deacons and ordained men of Good News Baptist Church laid their hands on me and prayed prayers of dedication. God has separated us to His service, and now our church has signaled its support and whole-hearted approval. I can’t count the number of those who promised their prayers and spoke words of encouragement.
Now, following the example of those first few missionaries, Barnabas and Saul, we will be departing our home church. Filled with excitement to see what God will do, we will be embarking on full-time deputation. We know that He will open all the right doors for us.
We will be uploading some pictures from the ordination as soon as they become available.
Happy for you, and will keep you in our prayers.
That is a VERY special service that you will never forget! It encourages you in some of those “down times!” We are SO excited about you starting your deputation and look forward to seeing you in Cambodia SOON!!! You are in our prayers! Becky
